Decorating Christmas Cookies ~ December 2012

Our December meeting was at Betty Ann's home.  What a festive gathering!  Betty had the cutest table top "Christmas tree".    The tree was a large branch she had secured in a bucket and decorated with plain sugar cookies.  What a fun, festive and simple idea!

We started the evening with gingerbread martinis - YUMMY!  We then decorated different sugar cookies that Betty purchased from Ikea - no idea they had cookies.

Of course we had a cookie swap.  So many cookies - so little time.  There were so many delicious cookies: Oatmeal Butterscotch, Raspberry Swirl, Chocolate Mint, Walnut crescent, Raspberry Almond Shortbread.  All went home with plenty of each!

Cindy joined us as well... unfortunately it was after I had my camera out and totally forgot to take new pics!

What a wonderful night!  Just need to get the cookie recipes posted.

The Beginning ~ November 2012

Getting together with friends to enjoy great food and company  is something we must all try to do. With schedules, family happenings and just life itself makes this a challenge.  I thought if we got the date on our calendars, shared the responsibility of preparing the menu and rotating homes - hopefully our meetings would happen and be a success.

Fortunately, our inaugural meeting was a success!  Six of us met at my home to enjoy cocktails and appetizers as we discussed our strategy.   Jeanne brought tasty spinach squares; Rita brought cheesy rice balls; Betty brought fabulous ham and cheese palmiers; Angi brought delicious crab cakes; Jen brought a savory squash soup and  I served brie crostini with apples and brown sugar.  Unfortunately I never thought to take pictures to show what a fabulous spread we had.

While sipping prosecco we decided on our schedule to meet the 2nd Thursday of each month.  We rotate to everyone's home.  Originally I had a rough draft of ideas as to what the 'theme' would be each month.  As it turns out each meeting we easily decided on next month's theme and where we would meet.  The group has since grown to nine members with others interested in joining.  I'm excited in the Scituate Cooking Club (SCC) success and look forward to our adventures in the kitchen and sharing with each other's lives.
